The results of The Dragons' Beads party

The release party for the anthology went very well, and we had quite a few people come through. It did go out to three whole hours worth of music and chat which spanned many topics. This of course covered dragons, the book, some of my books, Dragon Hearts and games, and books Grease has been working on.

It was great seeing so many people come together and from different groups. Grease Coakes/John Krauss was busy DJing some great tunes, Methos Anubis one of those that helps to run to club was here, Kino was our lovely hostess... Salaiek, the cover artist was out there dancing with me (my mate was out on the floor with us at one point, that delightful fox over in the corner beyond the purple flouncy dragon that I am)... plus many other people that came by.

Here's a few pictures from the party.

Best part of parties thrown in SL? Cleanup is generally really easy. Soon we'll find out who the two lucky winners of free copies of the book are.

The Dragons' Beads Release

Release day is upon us for volume one of the dragon poetry and short story anthology "The Dragons' Beads: A Treasury." Thank you to the contributors that made this possible. It was very exciting to see how many different views of 'dragon' sprang from the prompt.

“The Dragons' Beads" features the work of Elizabeth Buckley, Niels Van Eekelen, Athena Garcia, Ollie Lambert, Douglas J. Moore, Meghan Proctor, Jo Anne Spiese, Kristina Stumpf & Michael Camp, and Rachel Wookey.

Don't forget about the after release party. That can be accessed through Second Life (either the SL viewer or one of many third party viewers... I use Firestorm) at 6 PM SLT/Pacific Time. It was originally scheduled for 6 to 8, but Grease/John has enough music that if it looks like people want it and it gets cleared with the sim owner to extend another hour.

If you come, there are a couple of "dragon eggs" among the songs that I specifically asked to be played. The first one to IM me during the celebration event for each particular "egg" of the two will win 10 Lindens. If someone IMs me with both then they will earn 20 Lindens.

The Dragons' Beads Release Party

The release party for our dragon anthology "The Dragons' Beads: A Treasury" will be November 2 starting at 6PM Pacific/SL Time at The Rose in Second Life. A TP link will be provided once set as the owners of The Rose were talking about the use of a skybox for the event.

The party will be DJ'd by good friend and author John Krauss AKA as Grease Coakes within SL. Bring your mate, friends, and anyone else you know that might want to come. I don't think I will be able to stream the event unfortunately, even though I had considered it as an option for those that can't go into Second Life.

Those with Second Life accounts or an interest in making one are cordially invited to attend. There will be dancing, chatting, and conversation, and those that attend will be eligible to win a free copy of the ebook. I am still working out details on how to handle that...most likely a drawing.

The theme is of course dragons, so feel free to dress up inworld as a dragon (those that like to use non-human avatars) or in dragony clothing for those not wanting to change bodies or preferring to present as human. I just ask that you don't wear a really big dragon, so that we all fit into the room.

Also don't forget that there is a rafflecopter drawing for two free copies of the ebook version. Check our blog and/or Facebook pages for how to enter.

"Dragon Shaman #1" and "The Dragons' Beads"

Dragon Shaman Book One's paperback version populated to Amazon much faster than I expected it to.
The base price is $9.99, making this much more affordable than the old Lulu copies that Amazon has in stock.

The Dragons' Beads is also now available for pre-order on Smashwords. It will also be available in print and on Kindle. Be watching for the announcement as to when it gets to Amazon.

The result of the Divine Inspirations writing party

I, under my Second Life name Amehana Ishtari (Reikaz), have gotten into the SL Newser. Grease Coakes/John Krauss wrote an article on the event which Bixyl Shuftan wrote a very nice introduction for in the main stream of the SL news.

More books were talked about than mine, John's, and the anthology. I also mentioned Michelle Browne's The Stolen as well as others. It was a good turnout with good tunes, including some My Little Pony music. It would be nice to see something like this happen every few months over at the shrine...or even every month if possible. Perhaps small workshops could be managed.

Submissions for The Dragons' Beads: A Treasury volume one closes, volume two opens

"The Dragons' Beads: A Treasury" first volume will have several poems and short stories by authors of all ages. I am pleased that both minors and adults will be represented in this volume, and hope that it will be repeated in the next volume as well.

I will begin editing tonight since my housecleaning took longer than I expected. Those authors that have been expected will be contacted if I find any typos or unclear areas with my suggestions. We release in November of this year, so be watching Amazon, Createspace, Smashwords, and Barnes & Noble. We will not be releasing to Lulu for this edition. As we will be publishing to Smashwords it will also ship out to iBookstore, Sony estore and other retailers as well.

Submissions for volume two will be accepted and put into a folder for that project. I will be accepting for two years on volume two. If you are one of those that missed getting into volume one, do not despair. Think of it as having plenty of time to perfect and submit, and be assured that I am looking forward to seeing things start to take shape.

Reminder, July 31 Deadline for "The Dragons' Beads" Vol. 1

Time is counting down to the cutoff to submit for inclusion in volume one of "The Dragons' Beads: A Treasury." Any submissions received after July 31, 2013 will roll over for volume two, should this prove popular enough.

We've had minors submit, and we've had adults submit. We've got some nice round beads of poetry, and we've got some longer beads of short stories so far. What dragon treasures can you add to the pile?

To enter, just send an email to ladyrainstardragon@hotmail.com with "Submission to the Dragons' Beads" in the subject line.
